Assigned Sex: Born with certain primary and secondary sexual characteristics.
The term cisgender is used for people born with the primary sexaual characterstics of a particular sex (‘male’ or ‘female’ ), whose gender identity aligns with their assigned sex.
Eg: An individual born with the sexual characteristics of a male (a penis and testes), who identifies as a man.
Individuals whoses gender identity does not align with their assigned sex, may be transgender. They often do not feel comfortable with the sexual characteristics they were born with.
Eg: An individual born with sexual characteristics of a ‘male’ (a penis and testes), who does not identify as a man.
